California Mission Basket
This fine old Mission basket from California is made in the traditional bundle coiling technique using juncus fiber on grass stem bundles. It has the shape of a deep bowl with a flat bottom and flared sides and measures 8.5 in. across with a depth of 4 in.

The dark brown design features a central four-sided motif whose appendages support a vertical column of four stacked triangles. These columns of triangles suggest the four directions and intersect the alternating horizontal stripes to create a very dynamic pattern.

The overstitched edge has a rich warm patina from use and adds to the visual appeal of this handsome basket. Great condition... SOLD
