Snake Dreaming Watercolor In the 1980's I had the delightful job of collecting and purveying folkart and transitional art of traditional peoples for the very unique and eclectic shop of the Peabody Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology at Harvard. This allowed me to indulge my passion for the subject through the collections, as well as the treasures in the libraries of that esteemed institution. I began researching cave paintings, petroglyphs etc. in earnest and storing images and affinities in my heart and mind... years later elemental/ancestral spirits of the indigenous people of Australia began showing up in my work. This may be a vestige of Wititj, a Python ancestor, or another water spirit. He sways on a background of images from many traditional cultures around the world. It is painted on acid-free watercolor paper, image measures 19 in. x 24in. Unframed |
