Vintage Wodaabe Leather Headband with Brass and Cowries from Niger
This leather and brass adornment is known as a "silkin" and is worn tied around the head with the silver pendant in the middle of the forehead.
The brass and cowrie strands frame the young Wodaabe man's face as he displays his unique beauty in the annual Geerewol Festival in Central Niger. It was collected in the 1970s in Niger and is in very good condition. Circumference is adjustable, brass and cowrie side ornaments measure 8".
