Folkloric Huipil from Quetzaltenango

Folkloric Huipil from Quetzaltenango

What a Stunning Huipil from Guatemala...

This collectible piece features abundant hand and machined embroidery overlaying  ikat-like woven stripes in Totonicapan style on three panels of white cotton.
Brightly patterned stripes of gold and blue and embroidered garlands of flowers and birds fill the upper portion. A wide band of heathered gray with bright indigo stripes transitions to soft homespun white cotton in the lower.
Gold-edged scallops of blue velvet adorn the shoulders, and trim the neckline.
Zippered openings in front and back suggest pockets were considered but the inner fabric pocket was not added.
It is a visual fiesta in every way!
Measuring  approximately 36"wide and 27" long, with a neck opening of 9", and generous arm openings of 11", it is easily wearable by American sizes  L to XL.
An irresistible, feel-good piece for your collection or personal wardrobe!
