Dayak Beadwork Panel from Indonesia
This dramatic beaded panel comes from the Indonesian island of Borneo.
It is a wonderful vintage example of traditional, indigenous art.
The Dayak people attach it to a rattan and wood babycarrier called a "ba" which is used to carry an infant in the first few months of life. The stylized white "aso spirit" and green dragons offer their protection to the young baby.
This richly embellished object is roughly 12" by 12" and in excellent condition...
