Vintage BaKuba Carved Box
Folkloric stars and simple masks facing in opposite directions are heavily incised into this unique lidded box collected in Mushenge around 1980.
A warm, red glow suggests "tukula" pigment was rubbed into the wood where the lighter grain shows through. It has a sturdy masculine presence and would make a handsome box to store personal treasures.
It is 7" long x 5" wide x 4" high
